Keloids

Keloids are unusual, crab-like scars that form at the site of trauma (e.g. acne scars, surgical scars, burn scars or ear piercings). Keloids may appear spontaneously as well. They are generally harmless though they may hurt or itch at times. Rarely, they may ulcerate. A keloid is much larger than the original scar and outgrows the boundaries of the scar. If you have a keloid on your body, you are at high risk of developing another keloid.

So stay away from all avoidable trauma like piercings, tattoos and cosmetic surgeries. Fresh, pink and itchy keloids are the easiest to treat. They can be treated with scar-reducing creams, steroid creams, injections made into the body of the scar, cryofreezing sprays, lasers, compression garments or a combination of multiple treatment techniques for fastest results. Old and mature keloids can also be treated successfully but they require more time and treatment.
